Waste disposal is one of the major problems with water pollution. About 400 billion tons of waste is produced every year which gets disposed into rivers, oceans, seas and other water ways. 1.1 Billion people are without safe drinking water and 2.6 billion don't have access to proper sanitation.

Fracking
Fracking is the process of drilling down into Earth with hydraulics to get resources such as oil and gas that is trapped deep underneath the ground. It's also a problem because it uses a large amount of water to do the process and it also has the chance to contaminate any ground water that is there. Fracking also uses methane, a common gas the contributes to climate change. This water which is contaminated with things like methane make the water available at this sites extremely flammable.
Oil spills
There has been big oil spills in the past that have affected water around the world. Some of the problems with oil spills is that it doesn't dissolve in water. It also affects the marine life within the oceans along with the other topics above. This can wash into beaches and other shores and oil can end up there.
